I found it on the Unofficial Shapeoko Facebook group. I will note that the far more expensive Ultimate Dust Deputy Retrofit Cyclone for Festool is simply amazing and wonderfully quiet compared to my previous setup, and very convenient as an all-in-one thing which can be rolled around, or picked up and carried up the basement steps quite handily.
170 – Cyclone Separator Shootout
Glad to see Dustopper is getting some play here. I also own and love my Dust Deputy. What I needed in my shop was an efficient separator that would also fit under my bench, so, after 3 years of putsing around and reading everything I could find on flow dynamics, I ended up with Dustopper. My career has been finish trim work and built-ins in mostly upscale homes, so mobility was another reason I wanted a low-profile design. Separation-wise, the DD and the Dustopper are about equal.
People like the ease of putting a Dustopper into service. Let me know if you have any specific questions. Best to all! Hi Phil. Thanks for your comment.
Letica makes a food grade 5 gal bucket with. Also, you can take a tomato plant holder, and modify it to fit inside the bucket. No more collapsing. Dustopper was designed for great separation, easy implementation plug and playand low profile placement and mobility. Lots of people are using and liking them. The shape of Dustopper…rounded at upper chamber, inverted frustum, unique separator slot, and more top secret are all the result of about design iterations.
One more word on separation with air flow separators… they behave like paper filters in this regard: The higher the separation efficiency at a given cut point the more restrictive the become. Dustopper has been optimized for woodworkers, and does a great job with nearly all dust made in that environment. And, it has great throughput. I have a prototype designed specifically for fines that may end up becoming a dedicated product for abatement of mortar, concrete, silica, and other powdery forms of dust.
Dustopper handles planers pretty well when used with CFM and larger vacs. After reading reviews of this product on the Home Depot website and viewing several YouTube videos, I decided to give the Dustopper a try.
I am impressed to say the least. I ran two different projects, one using MDF and the other in walnut. Attached are two photos.I was finding it was inconvenient because I was constantly having to unhook it from my table saw and then wheel it across the room to hook it up to my miter saw and then unhook it from my miter saw and wheel it back across the garage to the table saw. It was also fairly ineffective because quite often the filter on the shop vacuum got clogged because the bin filled up so fast.
Well, that might be on me because I never cleaned it out, but when you are in the middle of a project, who wants to stop the fun part to clean out a vacuum after every few cuts?Huawei p30 test code
Obviously not me. So much sawdust would end up on the ground that Courtney joked she could make sawdust angels. I would procrastinate cleaning the floor until I started a new project which meant if I ran out into the garage to get something, I most likely definitely tracked in a good amount of sawdust on my socks. It became clear to me that I needed to build a dust collector so I finally built one for the Gray House Studio shop by taking a Harbor Freight dust collector and upgrading it to a 2 stage cyclone dust collector.
Oneida Air Systems was kind enough to send us one to use and it made a huge impact. My goal for my dust collector was to have it service multiple tools at the same time. Since the tools are separated by 10 to 20 feet I needed more power than the Harbor Freight dust collector could provide. What I really like about the Super Dust Deputy XL Cyclone Separator is it separates the wood chips and the dust so only air and very fine particles pass through the blower to the filter.
This prevents any microscopic particles from entering back into the air in the shop. Are mw servers down

Plus, the stock Harbor Freight impeller as a forward-inclined fans whereas the larger Rikon impeller has a backward inclined. Forward inclines provide more flow but lose power when pressure increases. The backward incline provides more consistent performance as the pressure increases.Low-profile design means you can start breathing clean air faster and easier!
Our new, low-profile design puts a whole new spin on cyclonic dust separation and offers a faster, better, easier way to manage the dust and debris.
There are no holes to drill, no screws to tighten and no sealers to apply. We have had some projects come up around the shop where we have needed to bend some wood, so we decided to make a wood steamer. This is a simple, yet effective way to build your own steamer.

I just hook up my orbital sander to my Dustopper which connects to my shop vac and the possibilities are endless! This unit is unreal!Pn532 arduino
I was able to fill a 33 gal trash can over the course of a day, and the filter had only a light dusting, with nothing actually in the vacuum container. This pays for itself! PlaidFlannelGuy Review from homedepot. Easy to install, sturdy, comes with the hose and attachment, and performs as it says. You could make your own, and there are many options on the web for it, but honestly the fact that the kit comes with a small hose and 90 degree connector makes it slightly more cost effective to get this than make your own.
BB Review from homedepot. As a 1 man cabinet building operation, I not only make the sawdust, I have to clean it up! The Dustopper is the perfect solution! Small footprint. CabinetGuyScott Review from homedepot.
The separator and hose are good quality, quick to set-up and fit on a standard 5 gallon bucket. I hated emptying my shop vac and then paying about 18 bucks for a new filter. Using the Dustopper, my shop vac and filter are clean as new and the sawdust and chips all fall into the bucket which is easier to dump. I highly recommend it.The Dust Deputy dust cyclone is the perfect addition to any shop vac, eliminating virtually all the dust particles from your shop without clogging the filter or compromising the suction on your machine.
Dust gets trapped in the barrel of this dust separator, instead of inside the vacuum. Centrifugal force sucks debris out of the air and into the bucket, making this dust collection system a cost-effective means of cleaning your workspace without putting undo strain on your shop vac.
There is never any loss of suction, decreased air flow or clogged filters. The Dust Deputy industrial dust collector can be hooked up to any model vacuum by accommodating many different size hoses and couplings, without the hassle of having to track down the right sized connection.
The Dust Deputy vacuum dust collector is the perfect addition to any woodworking shop or workspace to ensure easy clean-up and dust-free air. I have purchased a lot of things for my shop but I have to say this is number one best. It works fantastic.
If you have a woodworking shop and use a shop vac to clean up then you definitely need this. It is a no brainier buy. You will love yourself. Saves time. I needed to do some heavy duty sanding - oak floors and multiple rooms of drywall. This add-on to my vacuum was perfect.
It enabled my filters to last many, many times longer than without the separator. This product is worth every penny. The tipping problem as mentioned by other reviewers is a small pain so you have to work around that.
Harbor Freight Dust Collector Mod
However this is a small annoyance that is easily solved. This is one excellent tool. When I ordered this I knew it had to work better than the vacuum alone. My shop vac got used mainly for getting sanding dust from the lathe and I had to dump it weekly and vacuum the filter every 2 or 3 weeks. Now I only need to vacuum the hepa filter to clean it every 6 months or so. I empty the vacuum collector at the same time but there is usually next to nothing in it.
Only the finest of dust seems to pass through the cyclone and it gets caught in the hepa filter. I have a small basement shop and wanted to improve my dust collection. I bought this unit and hooked it to my Ridgid vac. It works amazingly well. Mind you, you will want to build some sort of base or cart for it, as it tends to tip over.
Otherwise it is an excellent product. No more vac filter cleaning! Available In Store Only.Video - May 2, Check out the review here! A cyclone separator is essentially a bucket with a fancy lid. When connected to a vacuum source, the lid creates a cyclonic suction that collects large dust particles minimally, and the small dust particles at best. So why would you want to do this? One reason is safety. Many times, a filter will get clogged with both large and small dust particles, eventually clogging up the system.
This could lead to dust leaking through the system and being expelled back into the shop air. At the very least, it will take a lot longer for a clog to occur.
The second reason is to save money. I never run my shop vac or dust extractors without a filter bag. Disposable filter bags wind up costing me a lot of money over time. By separating out the chips and dust BEFORE the vac, I can simply empty the bucket over and over and the fill rate on the disposable bags drops dramatically.
One of the greatest frustrations in dust collection is dealing with various port and hoses sizes. Fortunately, all three kits come with their own short length of hose for connecting the cyclone to the dust extractor. The port for the tool connection was a bit of a different story.
I had three hoses to test: my large Festool boom arm hose, my 36 mm Festool hose, and my standard Rigid shop vac hose. Mini CV06 — All hoses connected with no problem. Dust Right Vortex — All hoses connected with no problem. Dust Deputy Deluxe — The large Festool boom arm hose and the Rigid shop vac hose both connected with no trouble.
But I was not able to securely connect my 36 mm Festool hose. The one major drawback of a cyclone separator is that you now have one more thing to lug around the shop.
Since it is essentially tethered to your vacuum source, the whole setup and be quite a pain in the neck. Many folks make custom carts specifically for this purpose.
Dust Deputy — Includes casters for rolling around as well as an attachment kit for mounting to a dust extractor. Mini CV06 — Does not come with casters but does come with an attachment kit for mounting to a dust extractor.Pyroluria treatment
Dust Right Vortex — Includes easy to attach casters but does not include a mounting kit. All of these units are plastic. Nothing really fancy about them, but there are some minor differences to consider.Remember Me? What's New? Dust Deputy. I read good reviews of the Dust Deputy, but then you still need to assemble and supply your own container. Would probably be using mostly on my router table and planer. Google Sponsor Google Sponsor. There's an episode of Wood Whisperer comparing the three. I don't recall if he gave the nod to Oneide or Rockler. Personally I went with Oneida.
It's well thought out, especially the Festool version. Join Date May Location N. Missouri Posts 1, THe Rockler item is more of a chip catcher. The Dust Deputy will separate most of the finer dust out of the air. Join Date Feb Posts Matt beat me too it. I believe he gave the nod to the Onieda. I bought the Oneida and have been happy with it.
The DD was much better in a couple of tests. I just use the plastic ones and they have run for years without incident.
Who knows what stands in front of, our lives; I fashion my future on films in space. I guess catching fine dust is better, cause I would use it on my lathe for sanding too. The DD will still handle the chips from a planer though; Correct?Dust Deputy vs Thien Baffle vs Semi-Thein-Clone using Shop Vac
Just wish Rocker sold it, I can usually get free shipping there LOL Amazon no longer has it. Thanks, Tony. As stated the DD is for catching the finer materials. I could not imagine using that for a planer. I believe you would fill a five gallon bucket after 3 or 4 passes. Would do ok for router. With a planer or jointer you need something with volume. We are a high-end mining machinery manufacturer in Asia.8mm film magazine

Dust Collection Systems For over two decades Oneida Air Systems has been renowned as the industry leader in dust collection never compromising on performance or filtration to ensure the safest and healthiest work environment for shop owners.
The Dust Deputy is an extremely efficient USmade cyclonic preseparator for any make size or model wet or dry vacuum Its patented design uses centrifugal force to literally spin dust and debris out of the airstream trapping it in a container below not in your vacuum. Apr 16 I have been using shop vacs with HD dust stoppers and hoses for all my tools Basically moving the hoses from tool to tool as needed Very annoying and time consuming Anyone have an opinion on still using the HF dust collector with a reducer to the dust stopper and setting up a small dust collection network with blast gates.
Greatly reduces the need to remove dump reattach and simply handle dust collection bags altogether Capture more dust and breathe easy with the W Dust Collection Separator Raising the handle on most 5gallon buckets will secure the separator in place for a secure fit.
I recently upgraded my dust collector to a Clear Vue CV cyclone dust collector If you havent already seen that video and article be sure to check it out The upgrade was something Ive wanted to do for a long time and Im glad I finally got that behind me But in order to take full.

Piggyback a Dust Collector on Your Shop Vac As all woodworkers know sawdust will clog up a shop vacs filter very quickly Reduced suction means less sawdust is captured creating a more dirty and unhealthy work environment An easy fix is to add a cyclone dust collector to your shop vac.
What advantages does a dust collector have over a shop vac Ask Question Asked 4 years 5 months ago Dust collectors also have a larger volume for holding sawdustchips than a vacuum so if youre producing a lot of dust you probably want a dust collector but at that point youre probably in a shop big enough to have both.
The biggest thing I love about this dust collector is the size and simplicity of it All you do is open the box and attach it to any 5 gal bucket and your ready to go It even comes with a 36 hose with 90 degree elbow That mean no dealing with sealer bolts drilling cutting and fitting Its even. Dust collection is quite possibly the most important component in a shop One of the most fundamentally important aspects of dust collection is as the dust is being generated the dust must be picked up or it will be lost in the air where the task of collecting becomes nearly impossible.
